How long do I have to complete a D.Min.?
You have up to 6 years to complete a Doctor of Ministry program at Knox College.
How long do I have to complete a Th.M. or Th.D.?
You have up to 6 years to complete the Master of Theology or Doctor of Theology program at Knox College.
How long do I have to complete an M.Div.?
You have up to 8 years to complete the Master of Divinity program at Knox College.
What if I don’t have an undergraduate degree but wish to study at Knox?
Those without an undergraduate degree wishing to take a degree level course at Knox should contact the Director of Academic Programs.
What TOEFL score is required for admission?
if the test is taken in paper format, overall 580 and 5 in Test of Written English; if the test is taken in the computer-based format, overall 237 and 5 in essay writing; if the test is taken in internet format, 93 overall and at least 22 in each of the speaking and writing sections;
Are there Dons?
There are three academic Dons, usually graduate students. The Don duty schedule is posted in the residence. The Don is on duty from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. on weekdays and 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekends and holidays.
Are there housekeeping services?
Yes. residence rooms are cleaned once a week.
Are washrooms shared? Are they co-ed?
The Knox College Residence is divided into three houses (West, Centre and East). Each house has a different number of students so the ratio varies from 6-11. The floors and washrooms in each house are gender specific.
Do I have a curfew?
No. The front doors lock at 10 p.m. Each resident is given a key to the front door for access.
How many people live in the residence?
There are 103 students living in the Knox College Residence; 52 males and 51 females.
Is bedding provided?
Yes. Knox College provides all bedding. Students may bring their own if they so choose.
Is the meal plan mandatory?
Yes. Two meal plans are available; Carte Blanche or 15 meals/week plus $100 flex each term.
Continental breakfast is served in the Knox College Dining Hall Monday to Friday. The remaining meals are offered at New College (5 minute walk).
Is the residence only for Knox and graduate students?
Knox College will give preference to its theological students, those who are Presbyterian and U of T graduate and second entry professional faculties first.
Is there Internet & cable?
Wireless Internet access (UTORwin or UofT wireless network) is available in the Residence to current U of T students with a valid UTORid and password.
The rooms are wired for Internet and cable but it is the responsibility of the resident to make arrangements for the service through a provider.
What is your guest policy?
Residents may invite guests to their rooms. These guests are subject to all residence rules.
Will I get a single room?
The rooms are primarily single. There are two female double rooms, one female and one male super singles.
Can I get married in the Knox College Chapel?
The Knox College Chapel is available for weddings of persons of which the bride-elect or the prospective groom is a member of a denomination that has membership in the Canadian Council of Churches. Each request is subject to approval upon application. Please contact the assistant to the manager of facilities for bookings.
Can I purchase a permit to take my wedding photos at Knox College?
If you are interested in taking photographs (engagement/wedding/anniversary/family) at Knox College, please make a tentative booking with Knox to hold the date/time. Then, within three months of the intended photography date, contact Knox to purchase a photography permit. Permits cost $335 (including tax) per two-hour time block. Please note that Knox will not issue a photography permit to you if there is a wedding scheduled during the same two hour time block you have tentatively booked.
Can the premises be rented for external functions?
Classrooms, Dining Hall, boardroom, rotunda, cloisters, courtyard and KNOXFRA room can all be rented if there is no conflict with a scheduled Knox College event.

Although the College has been in operation for 170 years, it has been in operation at its present location, 59 St. George St., since September 29, 1915.
