What has been happening in theories of contemporary Christian education? This course l explores a brief history of, and trends in Christian education up to modern times, and studies important contemporary Christian education theories from the west and the east. Then the course watches and analyzes selected films with lenses from educational theories, and develops an educational theory for Christian religious education today.
Electives must meet certain outcomes. Please check with your Faculty advisor before selecting courses. A complete list of courses can be found at on the TST Web site.
NOTE: At least one of the electives for for the MRE MUST be a Biblical elective (xxB 2xxxH or xxB 3xxxH) to fulfill a prerequisite for KNP 3426H
Four Christian education elective courses (xxP 24xx/34xx) must also be selected.
What is Educational Ministry? Where is it situated in the church today? Do we believe that Educational Ministry would make the church or society different? If so, how can we reshape Educational Ministry in our congregations in order to revitalize the church and society? What would be the best approach to Educational Ministry for our congregations today? Keeping these questions in mind, we will open the world of Educational Ministry, engaging in dialogue with theorists in that discipline. We will explore educational theories and the ways of refashioning it for today’s church, and create a vision of Educational Ministry in order to revitalize a congregation.
Theological Field Education is a required component of training for the M.Div. and MRE at Knox College.
