Ways of empowering youth, young adults, and youth workers to become more fully engaged in the life of the church and in service to the world around them will be explored and will discuss the need to empower young people to participate in ongoing theological reflection about their lives and the larger world around them.

Re-imagining Leadership as Helping People Choose Change

This presentation will help you re-imagine leadership as a practice focused primarily on helping a congregation have the most positive experience of change possible. Emerging from tenets of our faith and learnings from the social sciences we will explore how to create a greater readiness for change, attitudes and how they are changed, a basic model for motivational leadership, how congregational anxiety hinders and helps, the different kinds of people needed in order to get on board with a new direction and the necessity for and elements of a good change story.

The Rev. Dr. Peter Coutts CEC is General Presbyter of the Presbytery of Calgary-Macleod and has been a minister for 26 years.  He is an Executive Coach certified by the International Coach Federation and the author of Choosing Change: How to Motivate Churches to Face the Future.
