It is with sadness that Knox College received the resignation of Professor Pamela McCarroll from her faculty position as Associate Professor of Pastoral Theology and Director of Theological Field Education. Professor McCarroll will join the Faculty at Emmanuel College as Professor of Practical Theology beginning July 1, 2016.
Professor McCarroll joined the Faculty at Knox College on July 1, 2008 and has served with distinction as a teacher and researcher. On the recommendation of the Knox College Board of Governors, the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church in Canada granted her tenure in June 2014. Professor McCarroll’s commitment to her students is well recognized. Her collegial relationship with faculty colleagues and staff will be missed by the whole Knox community. We wish her well in her new position and look forward to continued association with her through our partnership with Emmanuel in the Toronto School of Theology.
Knox College will begin the search process for this faculty position later in the spring.
The Chris Vais Community Award is presented to a theological student in his/her graduating year who has contributed to the Knox Community in an exceptional way by having a pastoral and community building influence on the College. The person who receives this award is elected by faculty, staff, and students of Knox College.
Knox’s Graduand Celebration is an opportunity for College faculty, staff, and students to acknowledge and congratulate graduating students on their hard work. This year, 13 of 32 graduands were able to attend the banquet, along with family and friends. The March 18 event began with a Service of Celebration for Knox College Graduands, including a message by Dr. Brian Irwin, anointing of graduands, and a litany of blessing. The group then enjoyed a reception hosted by Principal Dorcas Gordon before moving to the dining hall for a banquet. After toasts from faculty, staff, and students, Dr. John Vissers presented the graduands with packages of information on graduation and the Knox Ewart Graduates’ Association; the group also received gift cards from the Mission and Theology (student council) society.
Come celebrate with graduands awarded their degrees at Knox’s 172nd Convocation on Wednesday, May 11, 2016. Find more information about this year’s convocation and pre-convocation events here.
